From Monday through Thursday the students follow a program called Daily 5. They rotate through 5 centers on their own, (and then one center with me) each one working on a reading skill. These centers include Read to Self, (silent reading time with books at their level) Read to Someone, (partner reading practicing fluency and comprehension) Listen to Reading, (RAZ-Kids on the computers where reading fluency and comprehension is practiced) Word Sorts, (phonics skills are enhanced through word sorts differentiated by each student's need) and Spelling, (students complete their weekly vocabulary practice, ladder writing, and hands-on activities to master their spelling words).
